Mammography Tech - Full Time - Monday-Friday - Day Shift

 

The Mammography Staff Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic radiology procedures on patients.

 

Licensure/Certification: 

Registered Radiology Technologist with appropriate training specified by MQSA/FDA standards. 

Registry in Mammography required.

 

Experience:

Three months on-the-job training.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Checks two patient identifiers for proper identification prior to exam.
  • Reviews patient record for accuracy and compliance with treatment plan.
  • Selects appropriate technical factors for exam being performed.
  • Selects markers correctly and consistently with digital imaging.
  • Takes appropriate measures to decrease likelihood of retakes; documents cause for needed retakes.
  • Demonstrates proper breast positioning and breast knowledge; selects proper identification markers.
  • Utilizes correct compression paddle for habitus of patient/exam.
  • Verifies digital images to workstation, CAD and PACS.
  • Enters patient demographics in Mammogram Maintenance in computer.
  • Verifies images to InteleConnect for Radiologist.
  • Uploads priors to from PACS to InteleConnect.
  • Obtains priors from other facilities.
  • Observes “time out” to verify patient name, procedure, and side of interest.
  • Utilizes spot film or magnification device as requested by Radiologist.
  • Maintains all QC required by ACR/FDA.
  • Maintains logs for staff, physicians and physicist pertaining to credits/numbers.
  • Ability to upload images to PowerShare for comparison.
  • Demonstrates ability to gather QU data under ACR specification:
    • Seno Iris capabilities for CD disc burning
    • Flat plate test
    • Phantom imaging
    • AWS and RWX cleaning (monitor)
    • Monitor calibration check
    • Viewing condition for the RWS’s and Viewboxes
    • MTF measurements
    • AOP mode and SNR check
    • Visual checklist
    • Repeat analysis
    • Compression force test
  • Obtains quality ACR films for accreditation.
  • Submits all factors for ACR.
  • Meets FDA requirements at inspection.
  • Meets equipment standards for FDA.
  • Obtains PEER review from Radiologist.
  • Obtains EQUIP for RADS.

  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate  significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Have near normal hearing – able to hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice/webinars
  • Have near normal vision – clarity of vision (both near and far) either corrected on non-corrected, ability to distinguish colors
  • Have good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination
  • Standing – continuously within the shift (67-100%)
  • Walking – continuously within the shift (67-100%)
  • Climbing – occasionally within the shift (1-33%)
  • Bending/stooping – frequently within the shift (34-66%)
  • Twist at the waist – occasionally with the shift (1-33%)
  • Pushing/pulling 50+lbs without assistance – frequently within the shift (34-66%)
  • Pushing/pulling 100+lbs with assistance – frequently within the shift (34-66%)
  • Lift/carry – 20+lbs without assistance – occasionally within the shift (1-33%)
  • Reaching above the shoulders – frequently within the shift (34-67%)
  • Lift/carry – 50+lbs with assistance – occasionally within the shift (1-33%)
