Ontraus Ruff Receives the BEE Award for Excellence in Patient Care
Stephens County Hospital is pleased to recognize Ontraus Ruff as the recipient of our first BEE Award. Ontraus was selected via a nomination process for providing high-quality patient care.
Ontraus is a Monitor Tech in ICU, where she monitors heart rhythms and EKGs for our patients on telemetry and in critical care. She consistently demonstrates flexibility, stepping into whatever is needed to support patient care. Her positivity and kindness uplift everyone around her, boosting morale and creating a supportive environment for patients and staff.

What Is the BEE Award?
The BEE Award complements the DAISY Award for nurses and is given to non-nursing support caregivers in recognition of high-quality care. Just as a daisy cannot thrive without a bee, patient care cannot thrive without a dedicated and collaborative healthcare team.
The BEE Award seeks to recognize caregivers who set the PACE in patient care:
- Pride: Bringing hope and healing to every life we touch.
- Achievement: Going above and beyond in their work.
- Compassion: Creating and maintaining an environment of empathy, kindness, understanding, and support.
- Excellence: Consistently demonstrating an unwavering commitment to quality in services provided.
How BEE Award Recipients are Chosen
Any non-nurse employees of Stephens County Hospital may be nominated for the BEE Award. Patients, families of patients, visitors, and employees can nominate any non-nursing support caregiver at any time.
Examples of non-nursing support caregivers include but are not limited to:
- Nutrition services
- Environmental services
- Radiology technicians
- Lab technicians
- Registration admins
- Any non-nursing employee that contributes to patient care
Eligible employees can work at any Stephens County Hospital-affiliated facility, including our main hospital campus, General Surgery, Orthopedics, WorkWell Immediate Care Clinic, Stephens County Hospital Physician Group -- Primary Care, Arrowhead Health and Wellness Clinic, the Clary and Wilkinson Centers, and Wound Care.
Our panel selects one BEE Award recipient each quarter based on nominations.
