Mechanic - Full Time - Monday - Friday - 7am-3:30pm with call required

 

The Mechanic/Painter is specially trained individual who performs preventative maintenance and repairs of the building, grounds, utilities and equipment throughout the facility.  Also, the Mechanic/Painter is an individual who performs painting and assists in maintaining appearance throughout the facility.

 

Education:

Vocational training in industrial maintenance or related fields preferred.

Experience:

Experience in hospital or industrial maintenance preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinate job with appropriate manager to ensure that safe environment is maintained.
  • Ensure that areas being painted are properly prepped prior to finishes being applied.
  • Apply paint, varnish or stains as requested.
  • Clean area thoroughly once project is completed.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure it is in good working order.
  • Store equipment and supplies according to established policies.
  • Keep manager informed of needed equipment and supplies.
  • Report potential problem areas to appropriate personnel.
  • Perform PM’s no later than the 25th of the month or as scheduled.
  • Record results accurately on PM card and forward to the Engineering Office.
  • Follow-up on Work Orders generated from PM failures.
  • Respond promptly to urgent requests and is able to prioritize Work Orders.
  • Seek assistance and/or learning experience to increase knowledge base/productivity.
  • Report potential problem areas to appropriate personnel.
  • Make immediate repairs on essential equipment.
  • Troubleshoot electrical problems using appropriate equipment and techniques.
  • Install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures.

Licensure/Certification

       •  Valid Driver’s License required.

      •    Attend regular staff meetings and in-services as needed.

 

 

Physical and Mental Requirements and Environmental Conditions:

 

  • May need to stand for up to 8 hours at a time
  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • Must have the cognitive ability to perform in this role. Critical and executive level thinking is required.
  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Have near normal hearing – able to hear alarms/telephone/normal speaking voice/webinars.
  • Have near normal vision – clarity of vision (both near and far) either corrected on non-corrected, ability to distinguish colors.
  • Have good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination.
