Respiratory Care Manager - Full Time  - Exempt with call required

 

Education: 

Associate Degree in Respiratory Therapy required.

BS is Respiratory Therapy is preferred

Minimum of two years’ experience in a management or supervisory position in Respiratory Therapy.

 

Licensure / Certification:

Licensed by the State of Georgia as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. 

RRT required

BLS, ACLS, and PALS required

RPSGT, RST, or NBRC SDS certification

 

Provides care for patients of the following age groups:

Neonate (Newborn)  ER only        Adult (19 to 59 Years)

Pediatric (>Newborn to 11 Years) ER only      Senior Adult (60 to 74 Years)

Adolescent (12 to 18 Years)            Geriatric (75 and Above)

                                                                                               

Duties and Responsibilites: 

  • Goals and objectives are consistent with hospital mission and interdepartmental objectives.
  • Identifies specific outcomes and target dates.
  • Reviews goals monthly and addresses in monthly report.
  • Addresses goal resolution.
  • Develops an operating budget and capital expenditure plan.
  • Consistent with goals and objectives.
  • Reviews financial results monthly; compares to budget and takes corrective actions regarding unfavorable variances.
  • Maintains appropriate levels of supplies/inventory.
  • Selects equipment consistent with goals/budget.
  • Processes departmental payroll accurately and timely.
  • If applicable insures that departmental charges are input accurately and timely.
  • Employees are well informed.
  • Assures adherence.
  • Reviews and revises at least annually or as needed.
  • Delegates and coordinates departmental workflow for optimum efficiency.
  • Shares control with employees and others as related to the outcome of services provided by the department.
  • Seeks to constantly improve processes resulting in increased effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develops job descriptions and measurable performance standards; reviews and revises as needed.

    • Sets up PM standards/contracts/frequency.

    • Arranges for repairs of equipment.
    • Arranges and assures gas testing for compressed gas delivery system.
  • Plans/implements continuing education for employees.
    • Stays current with JCAHO standards and assures compliance.
    • Makes outside continuing education programs.
    • Arranges for internal continuing education activities.
    • Establishes and oversees continuing education records for employees.
    • Works as a liaison for the hospital as a clinical site and local school teaching respiratory care.
  • Serves, participates, and helps coordinate community education programs.
    • Actively works on specific programs.
    • Helps serve on outside organizational boards and committees toward community education/health awareness.
  • Annually reviews CPT Coding for accuracy
  • Reviews departmental prices annually to insure reasonableness.
  • Oversees Respiratory Therapy procedures.
    • Performs Respiratory Therapy procedures as needed.
    • Lends clinical expertise to physicians and employees.

Neonate (Newborn)

  • Shows the ability to use appropriate devices and apply aerosol therapy.
  • Uses appropriate technique and restraint for arterial puncture and capillary sampling for blood sampling.
  • Uses appropriate technique and devices to deliver chest physical therapy.
  • Shows ability to communicate with parents regarding therapy and expected outcome.

Pediatric (8 to 11 years)

  • Uses appropriate technique for venipuncture and finger sticks.
  • Shows ability to give medicated therapy via mask, mouthpiece or blow-by.
  • Uses appropriate technique and restraint for venous, arterial and capillary blood sampling procedures; responds appropriately to abnormal blood gas values and promptly notifies nurse and/or physician.
  • Uses appropriate technique and devices to deliver chest physical therapy.
  • Uses appropriate oxygenation devices and application.
  • Uses appropriate invasive and noninvasive ventilation devices.
  • Shows ability to communicate with the patient and parents the therapy and the expected outcome of the therapy.

Adolescent (12 to 18 years)

  • Shows ability to give medicated therapy via mask or mouthpiece.
  • Uses appropriate technique and restraint for venous and arterial blood sampling procedures; responds appropriately to abnormal blood gas values and promptly notifies nurse and/or physician.
  • Uses appropriate technique and devices to deliver chest physical therapy.

  • Uses appropriate technique and devices to deliver chest physical therapy.
  • Uses appropriate oxygenation devices and application.
  • Uses appropriate invasive and noninvasive ventilation devices.
  • Shows ability to communicate with the patient, the therapy and the expected outcome of the therapy.

Geriatric (75 years and older)

  • Shows the ability to give medicated therapy via mask mouthpiece or blow-by.
  • Uses appropriate technique and restraint for venous and arterial blood sampling procedures; responds appropriately to abnormal blood gas values and promptly notifies nurse and/or physician
  • Uses appropriate technique and devices to deliver chest physical therapy.
  • Uses appropriate oxygenation devices and application.
  • Uses appropriate invasive and noninvasive ventilation devices.
  • Shows ability to communicate with the patient, the therapy and the expected outcome of the therapy.
