MRI Technologist
Title: MRI Tech for Stephens County Hospital, in Toccoa, GA
Duties:
1. Responsible for performing MRI scans, preparing and positioning patients for imaging
procedures, operating and maintaining specialized MRI equipment. Ensuring patient
safety. and assisting in MRI-guided procedures.
2. Maintaining equipment quality standards. Power up MRI system and perform daily
Quality Control test using a Water Phantom; Log and monitor QC results to ensure proper
machine function. Reviewing or developing film or images, and preparing results.
3. Assessment, evaluating, testing and performing examinations of Scheduled Patients:
Verify patient identity using two identifiers.
Screen for MRI safety risks (e.g., implants) and obtain completed forms.
Explain procedures to patients and obtain consent for contrast exams.
Performs I-stat for BUN/Creatinine per protocol.
Manage anxious or claustrophobic patients, including coordinating with physicians
for alternative study or administration of drugs to relax.
Conduct MRI scans, administer contrast using power injector, and verify image to
PACS for Radiologist dictation.
4. Assists physician with biopsy procedures during MRI-guided biopsies; Confirm patient
identity, complete “Time Out,” and review pre-procedure documentation; Obtain consent
and prepare contrast as required.
Minimum Requirements:
Associate of Applied Science degree in Radiologic Technology or closely related discipline, plus 1 year full-time experience in the job offered or related, including Radiology X-ray Technician. Must have at least 1 year full-time experience in the following duties: preparing and positioning patients for imaging procedures, operating and maintaining specialized radiologic equipment, performing examinations and developing film or images, ensuring patient safety; evaluating and testing patients and preparing results.
