Housekeeping Aide - Full Time -  Monday - Friday - Night Shift

 

The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for the cleaning of the hospital off site locations. 

 

Education:

Ability to read and write.

 

Experience:

Housekeeping experience preferred.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provides for a clean occupied unit:
    • Dust mops and wet mops floor with germicide cleaner.
    • Cleans over-bed table and furniture with germicide cleaner.
    • Cleans walls and pictures.
    • Cleans windows and checks blinds; reports to manager if needs changing.
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
  • Provides for a clean discharge patient unit:
    • Removes linen, trash and equipment.
    • Cleans equipment as assigned.
    • Cleans room according to procedure.
    • Remakes bed.
    • Places furniture and supplies in the correct location.
    • Checks for and reports any maintenance needs.
    • Closes door and applies sticker.
  • Provides for clean bathroom:
    • Dust mops floor.
    • Cleans lavatory with germicide cleaner.
    • Cleans mirror with glass cleaner.
    • Cleans tub and shower with germicide cleaner.
    • Spot cleans wall with germicide cleaner.
    • Empties trash and relines cans.
    • Cleans and refills paper and soap dispenser.
    • Wet mops floor with germicide cleaner.
  • Provides for clean nurses station and medication room:
    • Dusts overhead fixtures.
    • Dust mops floors.
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
    • Wet mops floor with germicide cleaner.
  • Provides for clean offices:
    • Light dusts office furniture.
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
    • Vacuums floors and upholstered furniture weekly.
  • Provides for clean library:
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
    • Dusts shelves and lamps weekly.
    • Cleans table as needed.
    • Vacuums floors and upholstered furniture weekly.
    • Cleans walls as needed.
  • Provides for clean conference rooms:
    • Empties trash and relines cans.
    • Cleans tables, wall fixtures and window sills as needed.
    • Cleans chalkboard.
    • Vacuums floors and upholstered furniture weekly and/or as needed.
  • Provides for clean waiting areas:
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
    • Spot cleans and vacuums carpet and upholstered chairs.
  • Provides for clean ancillary services:
    • Empties trash and relines trash cans.
    • Dust mops floors.
    • Dusts and cleans all overhead and wall fixtures.
    • Vacuums carpet and upholstered furniture weekly.
    • Cleans bathrooms with germicide cleaner.
    • Wet mops floors that are not carpeted.
  • Provides for terminal cleaning in the OR Areas:
    • Conduct hand hygiene and uses gloves and PPE required
    • Inspects room identifying and reporting any room issues
    • Cleans floors
    • Gather and remove all used and soiled linens
    • Gather and removes all trach and infectious wastes
    • Removes suction containers for cleaning
    • Check sharps boxes and if 2/3 full changes containers
    • Clean and disinfects all operating room surfaces and surgical equipment

  • Must have valid driver’s license.              

Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions

  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • May be up walking on feet up to 6-8 hours per day
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds or more 
  • Must have the cognitive ability to perform in this role. Critical and executive level thinking is required

  • Must have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy

  • Have near normal hearing – able to hear alarms/telephone/ normal speaking voice/ webinars

  • Have near normal vision – clarity of vision (both near and far) either corrected on non-corrected, ability to distinguish colors

  •  Have good manual dexterity and eye-hand-foot coordination

  • Standing – continuously within the shift (67-100%)

  • Walking – continuously within the shift (67-100%)

  • Climbing – occasionally within the shift (1-33%)

  • Bending/stooping – frequently within the shift (34-66%)
