Engineering Supervisor
Full Time - Day Shift
The Engineering Supervisor is responsible for all hospital physical plant activities involving maintenance equipment and related machinery and all similar equipment located in the various Stephens County Hospital areas and buildings. Assists the Manager with all program procedures to meet all section responsibilities in the area of facility services.
Education:
Requires an Associate's degree.
High school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience in hospital facilities operations in a health care setting can substitute on a year for year basis for required education.
Experience:
Require a minimum of two (2) years of progressively complex experience (troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, design, and modification) as a hospital-based engineer technician.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated leadership skills/qualifications.
- Familiarity with codes applicable to field and industry.
- Five (5) years of experience with hospital plant operations.
- Knowledge of codes and CMS standards.
- Knowledge of computers and related software (Windows Operating Systems).
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
- The ability to work with and direct members of existing team with the ability to lead and direct multiple projects.
- The ability to work with no supervision.
- Two (2) years of prior leadership experience.
- Working knowledge of hand tools pertinent to trade(s).
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates specific knowledge of trade practices, codes and requirements for responsible section.
- Demonstrates through accepted code and trade related industry standards, sufficient working knowledge of trade is evident and practiced.
- Leads, directs, and aids the section staff in the operation and maintenance of all equipment and any similar equipment located at the Stephens County Hospital properties. Makes sure that any equipment vital to acute areas’ is not removed from service at a critical time.
- Schedules daily work assignments and follows-up on various assignments so that all work is completed in pre-determined time parameters.
- All scheduled PM work is completed on time and departmental schedules are met.
- Administers and documents all necessary certification and testing programs, including health related section maintenance activities which are required by Joint Commission and other certifying agencies.
- Ensures all ICRA related reports, set-up work and documentation are completed.
- Ensures all records for job are completed and filed within database as necessary.
- Assists in the generation of annual service contracts with the various vendors.
- Oversees the management of the activities of all assigned section staff.
- Communicates to employees clearly and concisely responsibilities and duties for scheduled assignments.
- Maintains full coverage of all shifts following department guidelines and hospital policies.
- Ensures all scheduled PM is complete and records are available (as evidenced by PM records).
- Assists in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Ensures new employees are sufficiently trained to properly answer calls and trouble shoot by using proper and proven practices.
- Orders and stocks necessary parts allowing most for emergency repairs and scheduled PM's to be completed and within budgetary requirements.
- Stays current with technical advancements and code changes relating to the proper operation and maintenance of equipment responsible for.
- Systems are maintained and updated as necessary to maintain code compliance, efficient operation and safety.
- Demonstrates ability to function well alone.
- While performing duties, interacts in a professional manner with fellow employees, patients, staff and visitors and maintains work related confidentiality as required.
- Reports to work in clean, neat, standard attire daily.
- Assists Manager with Call and adheres to schedule..
- Responds to Hospital calls within a reasonable amount of time.
- Demonstrates proficient knowledge of computer programs used by department and supports administrative and departmental decisions, changes and programs.
- Utilizes standard Microsoft Office programs and departmental specific programs.
- Assists in the development of strategies designed to enhance and implement performance improvement programs that Impact Care.
- Supports hospital decisions and offers explanations to employees during times of change.
- Maintains all mandatory safety and training programs, lectures and seminars as required per hospital policy.
- Attends meetings as scheduled.
- Maintains and develops section required documentation accurately and legibly.
- Assist Manager in employee and departmental payroll needs as required.
- Assists with policies both departmental and corporate as required for code compliance during year.
