Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC)
The purpose of Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) is to present core-level knowledge, refine skills and build a firm foundation in trauma nursing. The TNCC course is a 16-hour course designed to provide the learner with cognitive knowledge and psychomotor skills to better assess and treat the pediatric or trauma patient. This course includes lecture and hands-on skill stations covering assessment and treatment of the severely injured patient. The verification card is valid for four years and successful completion of the TNCC course includes passing a multiple-choice examination and demonstrating critical steps of the skill stations. This course is recommended for emergency room and intensive care unit nurses. Nurses in other clinical areas would benefit and should be encouraged to attend a TNCC course.
