Stephens County Hospital is 96-bed, acute care, medical/surgical facility located in the beautiful foothills of Northeast Georgia. Over 600 dedicated employees are here each and every day to render the best care possible to our patients. Stephens County Hospital offers 24 hour laboratory, respiratory therapy, and radiology services. Our radiology department services include nuclear medicine, CT scanner, MRI, digital mammography, and ultrasound with vascular capabilities. Stephens County Hospital offers comprehensive rehabilitation services including physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Phase II and Phase III cardiac rehab as well as pulmonary rehab services are also available. Surgical services are provided in our five operating rooms plus an additional procedure room and outpatient surgical patients are able to recover in 10-bed outpatient recovery area prior to discharge. Inpatient services include medical, surgical, intensive care, intermediate care, obstetrics, and pediatrics.
Stephens County Hospital also believes that providing for the continuing needs of our senior citizen population is part of our mission. These needs are addressed in our two personal care homes. The Wilkinson Center is 40-room facility and Clary Care Center provides 42 rooms. These centers provide private resident the accommodations, central community rooms for activities, spacious lobbies for visiting with friends and families, and large dining rooms where meals are served. Located on the campus of Stephens County Hospital, just seconds away from state-of-the-art health care, both centers feature fully-trained, 24-hour professional staff, and life enrichment services.
History
Stephens County Hospital was established in 1937 and quickly became leading hospital in
Northeast Georgia. In 1967, the hospital was relocated from its Tugalo Street address to its present location on Falls Road situated on 28 acres of land donated to Stephens County by Toccoa Falls College. Since that time, there have been many additions and renovations to our facility to meet the growing healthcare needs of our community. New Impressions! our award-winning Family Centered-Maternal Child Unit and Kids’ Korner, our “playground” Pediatric Department, are both decorated and designed to deliver the special treatment their special customers require. Third West, totally new construction on the third floor of the hospital, boasts all private rooms. During Third West’s construction, the Emergency Department addition was built and a total renovation of the treatment, registration and waiting areas was completed. Lastly, we completed the most significant renovation on the original structure of the hospital with total demolition and reconstruction in the Surgical and Medical clinical areas featuring new furnishings, upgraded equipment and the latest in medical technology for more comfortable hospital stay.
Accreditation/Membership
The Joint Commission accredits TStephens County Hospital. This accreditation is evidence that hospital personnel and physicians have met strict standards of excellence and are working together to maintain well-run, well-organized, well-equipped, and well-staffed hospital. The College of American Pathologists accredits the Hospital Laboratory and our mammography and MRI services are certified through the American College of Radiology. Stephens County Hospital is member of the American Hospital Association, the Georgia Hospital Association, and the Georgia Alliance of Community Hospitals and is governed by the Hospital Authority of Stephens County. Stephens County Hospital is licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources.
