Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
Our facility has a Level II NICU with well trained staff and Pediatricians. Level II means that we are equipped and knowledgeable in the stabilization and care of newborns requiring medical intervention. From stabilizing the extremely premature to caring for infants born with special needs, our specialized nursing staff is there!
Our board certified Pediatricians are there to lead a team of staff that includes nursing, respiratory, radiology, and laboratory in the best evidence based care available. Our staff is trained to assist with specialized procedures such as placing a newborn on oxygen therapy via a nasal cannula, CPAP machine, newborn ventilators, and umbilical or artery vein IV insertion.
Our NICU has update-to-date equipment, featuring our new Giraffe Radiant Warmers. Should your newborn require more specialized care, we are proudly partnered with Northeast Georgia Medical Center and their Level III NICU Director, Dr. Cynthia Cabrera, for quick neonatal transfer via Angel II NICU transport. We are very proud to offer the only Level II NICU in our tri-county area. Your newborn is in the best care here in New Impressions at Stephens County Hospital!
