Hospital Purchases New Piece of Equipment
Stephens County Hospital has purchased a new piece of equipment.
Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell said the new system, purchased Monday, is brand new and not a replacement machine.
“The Authority approved a purchase of a breast core biopsy machine, which is a minimally invasive piece of equipment used on women who need a breast biopsy,” said Gambrell. “It also only costs around $29,000, so it is not really expensive, so women will have a better service than they now do.”
The biopsy machine is made by Oncor and was preferred by the surgeons at the hospital when compared to another system that was looked at, according to Gambrell.
The new system is portable and costs less than the other option.
The Hospital Authority approved the purchase unanimously.
