Stephens County Hospital is earning recognition on a state honor roll.

The Georgia Hospital Association’s Partnership for Health and Accountability has named Stephens County Hospital to its Chairman’s category, the highest part of the group’s Quality Honor Roll.

Stephens County Hospital is one of 14 hospitals to be named to the Chairman’s category.

The honor roll is based on clinical data provided by the federal Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services between October 2008 and September 2009.

The data collected details how well a hospital’s caregivers adhere to a list of eight Appropriate Care Measures. These measures are the clinical processes of care that are known to be the most effective methods of treatment for patients who have suffered heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia.

The ACM is a composite measure that determines whether or not a patient received the right care at the right time.

In a press release, Stephens County Hospital Administrator Ed Gambrell said this honor is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of staff.

Meanwhile, Georgia Hospital Association President Joseph Parker says this is a great accomplishment for Stephens County Hospital.
